
Sebastián Ferrada was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. He began studying singing in Chile while completing his Economics degree at Universidad Católica. In 2008, he moved to Milan to study with Vincenzo Manno at the Accademia Internazionale della Musica and the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala.
He launched his solo career in 2010, performing the title role in Edgar (Puccini) in Valladolid, Spain, followed by roles as Manrico (Il Trovatore), Radamès (Aida), Don José (Carmen), and Verdi’s Requiem in London. After winning the 9th International “Aida” Competition of the Fondazione Arena di Verona, he performed Radamès at Teatro Filarmonico di Verona.
In subsequent years, he portrayed B.F. Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) in Argentina and Italy, Manrico in Zagreb and at the Festival Lirico di Massa Marittima, Torbeno in I Shardana (Teatro Lirico di Cagliari), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore) in Busseto, and Hoffmann (Les contes d’Hoffmann) in Como. He debuted as Pylades (Iphigénie en Tauride) in Moscow, performed in China with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra under Long Yu, and returned to Zagreb as Alfredo (La Traviata).
His 2016 season included Aida (Radamès) in Augusta and Athens, La Battaglia di Legnano (Arrigo) in Legnano, Les Contes d’Hoffmann in Skopje, and Un Ballo in Maschera (Riccardo) in Gijón and Spoleto. In 2017, he debuted Renato des Grieux (Manon Lescaut) in Milan, Calaf (Turandot) in Spain, Turiddu (Cavalleria Rusticana) in Sicily, and covered Ismaele (Nabucco) at the Arena di Verona. He also reprised Pinkerton in Vigo.
Upcoming engagements include Turandot and Cavalleria Rusticana in Switzerland. Ferrada has performed in Italy, France, the UK, Albania, Macedonia, Croatia, Hungary, Russia, Argentina, Chile, Spain, Switzerland, and China.
